Investigator Harry Hatch is a 34-year retired sheriff’s detective from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. The last 18 years of his career was assigned to the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division in the Arson/Bomb Detail. He was awarded his Certified Arson Investigator 1 rating from the California State Fire Marshall Office of Education & Training in 1992. Besides completing his California State Fire Marshall Training, he successfully completed the National Fire Academy, Fire Investigator course in Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1989. As an Arson/Bomb investigator, he attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Hazardous Devices Course B1-91, at the US Army Base, Redstone Arsenal, in 1990. Successfully completed, he was awarded his Hazardous Devices Technician rating for rendering safe explosive devices.

As a past member of State Board of Directors for Peace Officer Research Association of California (PORAC), Harry participated in authoring 11 state and four county ordinances relating to environmental, fire and explosive laws for the State of California. He has testified as an expert in fire and explosives cases in San Bernardino Municipal and Superior Courts, as well as Orange, San Diego, and Los Angeles counties Superior Courts. Investigator Hatch is the recipient of the Frank Bland Meritorious Service Medal, which is the second highest award given by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
