Mr. Ablott has over 40 years of experience in both the public and private sectors of investigation. Retiring as a Detective after 34 years of service with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, his final 16 years assigned to the Sheriff’s Department Arson/Bomb Unit. He received extensive training not only in fire investigation, but likewise attending the FBI Explosive Disposal Bomb Technician School and the US Army Redstone Explosives Ordinance Training School in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was certified as a Bomb Technician.

Ron was part of the task force in the John Orr arson investigations and prosecution. His awards and commendations are numerous, as was his commendable service to our Country as a combat veteran of the Viet Name War. After retiring from the Sheriff’s Department, Ron accepted a position with a nationally recognized insurance company assigned as a fire investigator to their special investigations unit. His assignment included the six western states where he traveled extensively conducting fire investigations of major commercial, residential, vehicle, and vessel losses.

In May of 2003, Pacific Rim ISG was honored in his acceptance of his position with this company.

Mr. Ablott is recognized as a court-qualified fire origin and cause expert, in which he has testified in the California Superior Courts of the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and Marin.

He holds and maintains CFI and CFEI certifications by the California State Fire Marshall Office, including professional membership and certification in the California Conference of Arson Investigators (CCAI), National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators (IABTI), and membership in the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).

He attended UCLA Engineering extension classes and received a certificate in Fire Protection Engineering. He also hold a California teaching credential. He has been on-staff at the Citrus Community College and Cerritos Community College teaching courses in crime scene and arson/fire investigation. He helped in the development and establishment of the FBI Post Blast Investigation School, which is currently being taught at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He has also been an instructor in the California Fire Marshall Fire Investigation 2-B course. He was retained by the University of Notre Dame School of Law, lecturing on expert witness testimony at training seminars held at the Los Angeles campus of Loyola University.
